BE A FIRE FIGHTER!

Dear friends,

There are basically two types of students:

Reactive Student
This type of student carries out a job fully or partly as told by the teacher or leader. Though they have plenty of time, they wait for instructions.

Proactive Student
This type of student is a problem solver. They think ahead, anticipating the next step in their studies and life. If there’s an issue, they find a solution.

In general, the proactive students use to score higher marks than the reactive students. In their future career too, the proactive persons find their positions in the top categories.

Dr. Stephen R. Covey in his excellent book ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ describes ‘Be proactive’ as the No.1 Habit to achieve success.

Being proactive is not a rocket science. It is something that can be learnt by anybody. Here are some tips which will make you a proactive person.

1. Remember the Big Picture
To be proactive, you have to keep the big picture in your mind. Think about the big goal to be reached in your future career and write it down with specific time limit. There may be roadblocks. But you can win.

2. Befriend Proactive People
Being surrounded by proactive people helps you in many ways. They will make you aware of all opportunities and help you handle any problem.

3. Be a Firefighter
A firefighter’s job is to put out a fire as quickly as possible. We have to think ahead before problems flare up. We should be prepared to jump to solve problems.

Being proactive is about taking responsibility for your life. You can't keep blaming everything on your parents or grandparents. Proactive people recognize that they are "response-able."

Your life doesn't just "happen." Whether you know it or not, it is being designed by you. The choices, after all, are yours. Start designing the most amazing life for yourself.
